Installation & Dry Applications

Q: What type of mortar do I use for dry application?

Emblazon suggest/recommends the use of silicone (for its flexibility), however in dry applications a glass mortar product, such as 254 Laticrete (r) which would be carried by any tile setting material dealer in your area. (Following manufactuers instructions)

IMPORTANT NOTE: When using mortar, do not let mortar make contact with the sides of the glass tiles, this will result in failure.

Q: What type of grout should I use for dry application?

Emblazon suggest/recommends the use of silicone, for its flexibiity, however in dry applications Laticrete Spectralock(tm) epoxy grouts would be suitable (following manufacturer’s instructions).

Q: What side do I use when setting tile for dry application?

A latex coating has been added mainly for shipping and handling, generally our tile can be set using either side, however in a dry application we have gone an extra step to assit you with the grouting step of installation when using silicone. After tile has set-up, simply remove protective layer. If using regular grout the coating may be remove before setting and either side can be used.

Q: What type of surfaces can I install glass tile on to?

Any substrate that would be suitable for tile applications.

Q: Do I need to be careful of scratching/breaking glass tile?

Our tile is very durable and made using star-fire glass, however it should be taken in consideration that it is still a “glass” product. Our tile is not suggested to be used in high-traffic areas.

Q: How to I clean the tile?

Emblazon suggest/recommends the use of 1 part vinegar/3 part water.

Q: What is the protective latex coating for on the one side of the tile?

It is a latex coating mainly for shipping and handling of the tiles. Our tile can be set using either side, however we have gone an extra step to assit you with the grouting step of installation when using silicone. After tile and silicone have set-up, simply remove protective layer.

IF you chosen to use regular grout for your application, the coating may be removed before setting.

Q: How do I incorporate your tile with my exisiting tile?

We suggest leaving this option up to your local tile professional.

Q: Can I use a drill on your tile?

Drilling is not recommended.

Q: How do I cut your tile?

Use a glass cutting diamond wheel wet saw, which can be found at any local tile dealer in your area. Use safety precautions, such as safety glasses , gloves etc.

Installation for Wet Applications

Q. What type of mortar do I use for wet application?

Emblazon suggest/recommends the use of 100 % silicone.

Q. What type of grout should I use for wet application?

Emblazon suggest/recommends the use of 100% silicone, ALL joints 100% sealed.
